Dandelion

​Dandelion is a widely distributed weed from the Daisy family, commonly known for its antioxidants and immune-enhancing properties. It presents a complex range of active principles such as sesquiterpene lactones, triterpenes, polyphenols, alkaloids and steroids. Traditionally, it has been used as a detoxifier, depurative, diuretic, antioxidant, support liver function, aid digestion, which affects the appearance of skin.

The scientific study carried out by the UAT university of Ecuador on the anti-inflammatory capacity of the dandelion dry extract demonstrated that the dry extract of dandelion leaves showed anti-inflammatory activity at high concentrations of the extract. As illustrated below, the dandelion dry extract presented anti-inflammatory activity at a concentration of 2.5 mg/ml, which increased as the concentration in the extract increases.  At a concentration of 5.5 mg/ml the activity of the dry extract of dandelion was the highest with a value of 58.89%, exceeding the activity of aspirin which presented a percentage of 52.74%.
